The marshes and swamps of Louisiana are a constant source of inspiration for me. I take lots of pictures, and use them back in my studio as a starting point to create something unique.

I often paint on a background of gold leaf, white gold leaf, or silver leaf. A metallic background can be challenging to paint on, but it adds a layer of dimension and shimmer that I think fits the subject matter.

My preferred medium is oil, usually applied with a heavy texture.
